How Does It Compare to Alternatives?
Compared to many portable BBQs, the House of Home grill stands out for its exceptional value and sturdy construction at a lower price point. While assembly might be more involved than some pop-up models, its integrated thermometer and vents offer better control than basic alternatives, making it a robust option for budget-conscious campers seeking a compact, reliable grill.
In a market flooded with portable BBQs, the House of Home Portable Charcoal BBQ Grill carves out a niche primarily through its outstanding value for money. While there are simpler, pop-up style grills available, they often lack the sturdy construction and integrated features like a thermometer and effective air vents that this model offers. Many customers who own larger, more expensive BBQs, like one reviewer with a 'huge, Napoleon bbq', still wanted 'something I could just fire up for a quick meal' , highlighting its appeal as a convenient, supplementary option.
Compared to other grills in its price bracket, it consistently receives praise for being 'much more solid and made from a thicker metal' , suggesting a higher perceived quality than its cost implies. While assembly might be more complex than some competitors , its resulting durability and functionality make it a strong contender for those seeking a balance of cost, compactness, and capability.

Excellent !
I was not expecting this to be so good, for the price it is excellent . It is much more solid and made from a thicker metal than I thought it would be . We have several BBQs but wanted a small one for the times we want to cook maybe just 2 pieces of meat . This is big enough to cook a lot if you want but also can be loaded with small amounts of charcoal and burns really well. Brilliant purchase...
Lightweight camping bbq
Nice, sturdy, easy to assemble and a really nice carry bag to put it in. Lightweight and perfect for camping and big enough for 4 people 👌. Really impressed with this buy
Good grill let down slightly by lengthy assembly process
The grill itself is good once assembled but it is very much a lot of parts requiring Ikea levels of assembly. Equally the parts all fit well and are (mostly) clearly labeled. Overall a good product that could have been more pre-assembled
Well thought out bbq
I like it. I already own a huge, Napoleon bbq but wanted something I could just fire up for a quick meal. Plenty of upper and lower vents although you need to think of heat expansion and avoid fastening the vent screws too tight. There’s an ash tray, charcoal grid, cooking grid. I’ll need to learn how to get the best from it, I’ve not bbq’d for a few years. I used a chimney, some wood shaving...
Good value for the price
The barbecue is excellent value for money and compact makes it easy to store away and easy to clean i am very happy with my purchase
Great product
Great product, easy to assemble and well designed
Not fully sure yet, seems okay for price
After one use I’m not fully sure, however with the grill being flush with the bbq, food can easily be knocked onto the floor. The size is okay for portable and the thermostat works well as do the vents, although they are metal, so to adjust during cooking would require a gauntlet or oven glove. Heats up fast with the lid on. Need to use more for full review.
Compact BBQ for camping but perhaps a few quality control issues
Overall I'd say this is an okay grill, however you can tell it's quite cheaply made. My unit had scratches and dents around the edge which I needed to bend back out in order to use and that was with the heavy duty packaging so this wasn't caused by postage. As a BBQ though I don't really have many other complaints, it works as intended, has just about the right amount of adjustable vents around th...
Gets the job done.
Gets the job done !! Product is compact and gets the job done. Just that you need to watch out for debts when the product arrives. Not too much space for lot of charcoal but when filled with 2kg instant light charcoal, will be enough for 2.5-3 hr grilling. Temperature stays in good and not too much of hassle to put together and cleaning is easy. Could do with better packaging to ensure product arr...
